Isha Rihal and Alycen Roberts

Sessions: Bhangra and Jazz 1 & 2

Isha Rihal is a senior at the University of Minnesota and has been dancing since she was five years old. She has been both captain and creative director of the U of M’s bhangra team, Twin Cities Bhangra.

Bhangra is a dance form that originates from the North Indian state of Punjab. Traditionally, bhangra was done to celebrate a year’s successful harvest. Isha enjoys spending her time performing for the UMN community with her team as well as spreading Punjabi culture through workshops and collaborative events with other student groups on campus.

Alycen started dance when whe was just 2 1/2 years old, with four of her early years being right here at Rhythm and Shoes! She then switched and finished out her studio dance lessons at JMM Dance in Rousemount, where she competed as a competitive dancer for seven years. She then went on to dance at the University of Minnesota on the Premiere Dance Team.

She currently is a Minnesota Vikings Cheerleader, and just finished the most exciting and victorious of all football seasons. Being a MVC has definitely been the highlight of her whole dance career. We are delighted to have her join our crew to be a guest instructor here today to inspire and share her love of dance.
